Roundmaille is easily one of my favourite jump ring chains! Essentially it’s European 4:1 chainmaille worked into a round tube.

There are some very good tutorials available for making roundmaille, in particular this one from Derakon on The Ring Lord’s website.

One of the things I’ve found difficult (and my students have definitely struggled with) is how to set the rings up at the start. This video shows you a quick and ease tool you can make to help you get your roundmaille started. You’ll spend less time fiddling and more time weaving!

Excellent tip and I like that the starter is the first row, thereby eliminating any wasted rings. I always look forward to your emails because I know that they will contain valuable and invaluable info and always leave me wondering, “How did she come up with that!” I’m always glad you do because your emails keep me focused on my craft. I work full-time, so I need all the inspiration and poking I can get because making jewelry is my true love and chainmaille is my favorite method.
